Reykjavík Culture Night - The Streets of Music
Reykjavík is getting ready for its largest cultural festival, Culture Night, held next Saturday 21 August. The Reykjavík Jazz Festival and the Reykjavík Marathon also coincides with Culture Night so there are only very few excuses for people in Reykjavík to be bored.
The festival is held for the 15th time this year and is packed with fun events for the whole family, from morning till night. Reykjavík city centre will be buzzing with an extraordinary number of colourful events, including highlights such pop concerts and all sorts of weird and wonderful smaller events such as a Aikikai demonstration, magic and illusions, opera, poetry, folk songs, photography, kids stuff, the the art of angling and much more
This year's theme is "The Streets of Music" as one of the festival highlights are 57 choirs with 1800 singers that visit Reykjavík for this years Culture Night. The choirs will sing on every street cornes (or so we expected to feel) to light up the spirit of the guests of the Festival.
The programme will end as usual with a fantastic fireworks display at 23:00 down by Reykjavík harbour.
Reykjavík Culture Night is a free event. Reykjavík Jazz Festival and the Reykjavík Marathon also coincides with Culture Night this year, so there will be plenty of jazz music and running on offer on Culture Night, too.
Visit the official Reykjavík Culture Night website for more information and a see the full schedule in English.
