Nature

Iceland is a cradle of natural forces. Enormous glaciers are covered with ice while hot steam is ejected from innumerable places  on the island. Once in a while you might even experience a volcanic eruption where burning lava runs down the hills and reforms the landscape. All these places with awe inspiring colours and smells give you an insight to the exciting story of Mother Earth.

There are less dramatic places. Green spots grow thanks to the tree planting effort that are saving the land from the erosion that was started by the Viking conquistadors 1100 years ago.

There are extremely beautiful sites like Gullfoss, one of Europe's greatest waterfalls and the lake Thingvellir near the place where the continental plates drift apart. Here you can virtually stand with one foot in America and the other one in Europe.

The rich wild bird life along the coast of Iceland attracts ornithologists from all over the world. You will see rare species breeding in their natural surroundings, not to mention the different types of whales that dance happily in the bays and fjords of the island.

It is no wonder that many international scientists and experts choose to come to Iceland to view these outstanding examples of Mother Nature's gifts.
